Published on: 1st April, 2023

Ramble by the River with Jeff Nesbitt brings you an entertaining and informative episode that features a 4-speaker conversation with two married couples, the Nesbitts and the Chalkers. Jeff and Colten have been friends for over 30 years, while Melissa and Hannah have been friends for over 10 years. The podcast is comedy-centered, with an emphasis on authenticity and human connection, which makes for a comfortable and engaging conversation that allows the guests to reveal themselves in surprising ways.

The podcast starts with a skit written by OpenAI’s ChatGPT and ends with a hilarious story about Colten forcing a beloved teacher into retirement, and his high school principal offering some supportive advice regarding his choice of underwear. In between, Jeff brings out a deck of question cards that spark some deep and personal conversations about topics like pregnancy, fertility, IVF, and the pros and cons of having athletic children. The conversation touches on many other themes, including fears, phobias, pet peeves, and the minefield of child discipline.

The discussion also delves into some important and topical issues, such as the power of belief, the screen time debate, and the hidden advantages of early-risers. The guests also share their thoughts on cross-fit and the question of whether pregnant women should compete in it, as well as the age-old debate about video games and their impact on children. They also explore issues related to education, such as adult literacy, childhood development, and the use of technology in remote learning.

Always a crowd favorite. I, uh, I regret to inform you that she didn't get on the good mic and her audio quality on this episode is, Lacking, I'd say leaves some to be desired,

[:

[00:06:04] I'm trying to get her on an episode in the upcoming weeks with just me and her, so you'll get some more of that. Nice, buttery, soft. Melissa Nesbitt vocals coming at you in a few weeks Possibly, if I can get her to do it.

[:

[00:06:32] we ask some tough questions. Some of it's really personal. We have a lot of laughs. You hear a lot of good stories from back in the day, and this is a fun episode. If you know any of us, if you're a friend or if you are from the community, you'll definitely hear some stuff that rings familiar to you, and I hope you enjoy it. Melissa and Hannah are both teachers in Ocean Beach School District, so we do a fair amount talking about education and in particular our own education. So you'll probably hear a few names that you recognize if you grew up here. There's some pretty great.

[:

[00:07:27] We got a few kids in the mix and we're gonna talk about all that stuff tonight. So I hope you enjoy this show. Without further ado, please welcome my very good friends. Colten Cha. Hannah Chalker and the love of my life, Melissa Nesbitt.

[:

[00:00:10] Yeah. It's all, it's on.

[:

[00:00:17] too far away.

[:

[00:00:27] means

[:

[00:00:47] three.

[:

[00:00:50] Well, that we couldn't unless we asked Colten to sit outside. Okay, so I have, this is set up on two separate tracks. these two mics are on which is also behind you. And

[:

[00:01:07] these mics are on here. These ones are more sensitive to so like, scratching your pants or But you'll be able to hear what's gonna record and what's not. Cause I put, oh, actually no, this? Yeah. Yeah. So adjust that to where it's like, um, about three or four inches away from your mouth. You can, you can

[:

[00:01:32] Hannah Chalker: Can't. That is not three or four inches away from my face. I'm still, oh, that's, how am I gonna, all right, .

[:

[00:01:48] away.

[:

[00:01:49] move it? You can move it.

[:

[00:02:22] Okay. Just so you know, make it easy for you guys.

[:

[00:02:29] Hannah Chalker: to hear them?

[:

[00:02:41] but first let's get through this. Uh, let's do this ban, this read through.

[:

[00:02:56] Uh, a couple random facts like that. Colten is a twin. Um, Hannah's into rodeo and, um, , that's about it. And then I told it to take, take the traits that it already knows about us and build a story out of it. And this is what it came up we set the scene for you the setting podcast studio set up with microphones as you see, just like in the script, headphones and a few plants scattered about the plant thing.

[:

[00:03:38] Oh no, you're in green. I missed this one up. You

[:

[00:03:46] about

[:

[00:03:49] Hannah Chalker: it. Yeah. So I'm gonna Can Yeah, I

[:

[00:03:54] Hannah Chalker: I'm gonna need that on like 86. Oh,

[:

[00:04:02] Hannah Chalker: It's you.

[:

[00:04:09] It, it's one

[:

[00:04:12] YouTube Um,

[:

[00:04:23] So this, it's a work in progress. Just blamed

[:

[00:04:25] Jeff Nesbitt: away. I'm holding my breath. Okay. All right. Podcast studio, everyone. All right. So wait, what color am I? You are brown. Yeah.

[:

[00:04:48] Hannah Chalker: Hey. What's

[:

[00:04:51] Jeff Nesbitt: So today we're gonna talk

[:

[00:04:58] Colten Chalker: I thought he was actually,

[:

[00:05:03] Hannah Chalker: Well, I heard he is a stripper. What?

[:

[00:05:08] He's

[:

[00:05:12] Colten Chalker: Oh, right. I

[:

[00:05:16] Jeff Nesbitt: Yeah, we were roommates for a while.

[:

[00:05:27] Jeff Nesbitt: Hey.

[:

[00:05:32] Jeff Nesbitt: Yeah,

[:

[00:05:34] Hey, at least I'm informed.

[:

[00:05:41] Jeff Nesbitt: No, it's okay. I could use some pointers.

[:

[00:05:51] You're always obsessed with your kids?

[:

[00:06:03] Like Hannah and her barrel racing. Oh, you're just

[:

[00:06:07] Jeff Nesbitt: skills. Maybe a little .

[:

[00:06:19] Jeff Nesbitt: it.

[:

[00:06:25] I am miserably. No, it's good. What a little profanity and cowboy hats.

[:

[00:06:36] Hannah Chalker: about, wait, Jeff, have you ever tried D M T? What? No. Oh, come on, Joe Rogan does it all the time.

[:

[00:06:50] Hannah Chalker: not get into that suit yourself. But if you change your mind, I know a guy

[:

[00:06:59] Excellent guys. Excellent.

[:

[00:07:04] Jeff Nesbitt: Yeah. I don't know why I gave you so many. Mid

[:

[00:07:09] Jeff Nesbitt: getting huge. They're pretty big Yeah, it was kind of nice. I wish we had a little more to go get the whole podcast done that way.

[:

[00:07:20] Hannah Chalker: why did it think that Cody was a stripper?

[:

[00:07:38] Like I don't know how it knew that I know everything about everything. I, I did not tell it that. And you do. I did tell it. I was partially arrogant. And that may be why it said

[:

[00:07:53] It

[:

[00:00:00]

[:

[00:00:00] Jeff Nesbitt: So how you guys been? Huh? Pretty Good,

[:

[00:00:05] Jeff Nesbitt: I'm

[:

[00:00:05] I'm good. Awesome. How

[:

[00:00:12] Melissa Nesbitt: life.

[:

[00:00:21] Hannah Chalker: it? I did not. I just supported their decision to not like it that much and encouraged that dislike. That's always

[:

[00:00:32] Hannah Chalker: Yeah. They weren't that into it and I didn't sell 'em on the idea.

[:

[00:00:41] Hannah Chalker: No.

[:

[00:00:44] be in basketball and football.

[:

[00:01:05] Jeff Nesbitt: part I didn't agree with.

[:

[00:01:10] Jeff Nesbitt: Actually, I do like watching it a little bit. I, I, I do but um,

[:

[00:01:16] want not all the

[:

[00:01:20] Do you ever yell at your kid or at other kids or at other parents? Anybody? No. No.

[:

[00:01:32] does

[:

[00:01:39] Hannah Chalker: Well, when we saw you at that basketball tournament and we were talking to Jeff, I was like, wow, Melissa's really fired up right now. I never see this side where I kinda like it.

[:

[00:02:03] I was like, why? Look at her, go over there.

[:

[00:02:10] Hannah Chalker: Yeah.

[:

[00:02:12] you need to learn how to have fun. Yeah,

[:

[00:02:15] It is.

[:

[00:02:21] okay, so I need move this. even just the crackling bubbles.

[:

[00:02:43] Hannah Chalker: we were discussing it before you got up here.

[:

[00:03:03] Jeff Nesbitt: you were like in your car with your phone and no kids yelling in your ears

[:

[00:03:08] I bet that wasn't bad at all. I bet that was a pleasure.

[:

[00:03:13] Jeff Nesbitt: Oh,

[:

[00:03:18] yeah, you got a nice private pooper there at the.

[:

[00:03:33] Hannah Chalker: at work?

[:

[00:03:37] Jeff Nesbitt: I don't even have to ask you. like a camel

[:

[00:03:43] Hannah Chalker: I mean I, she can go a while. I think camel's poop. I'm not sure I understand the reference. You don't know much about camels? Same.

[:

[00:03:56] Same I've been tricked.

[:

[00:04:02] babe, would you grab those things under your you grab those things

[:

[00:04:23] Jeff Nesbitt: like two round.

[:

[00:04:33] Hannah Chalker: them

[:

[00:04:40] Jeff Nesbitt: and, but yeah, it'd be good.

[:

[00:04:53] Colten Chalker: and then have

[:

[00:04:57] They're really, uh, you guys are putting too many conditions on it.

[:

[00:05:04] Hannah Chalker: Well, I'm competitive

[:

[00:05:19] Your reason for living, your reason

[:

[00:05:25] Jeff Nesbitt: It is. That's what it sounds like. Icky guy. . Yeah.

[:

[00:05:29] Colten Chalker: It's your EK guy. Uh,

[:

[00:05:41] What drives

[:

[00:05:47] Hannah Chalker: Wait, why?

[:

[00:05:56] Jeff Nesbitt: Yeah, that's a, that's a tough one.

[:

[00:06:06] What? Three things. That's kind of a boring question. Are you kidding me? That one's great. Oh, well I didn't think me and you would do the three whole things together in the next year.

[:

[00:06:20] cards?

[:

[00:06:28] Jeff Nesbitt: Uh, let's see. I'd like to clean the garage. I would like to, I would, I feel like we should, given the, the impending doom and food shortage and all that.

[:

[00:06:51] Yeah,

[:

[00:06:57] Hannah Chalker: That's exciting.

[:

[00:07:02] Jeff Nesbitt: I don't have time. I

[:

[00:07:06] Jeff Nesbitt: that. Yeah. No, I'll do that when I'm old. . Um, progress is fun. Productive stuff is Podcasting is fun actually. Yeah. Um, but yeah, no, normal fun stuff is, exhausting and it takes a lot of energy.

[:

[00:07:28] um, what do you wanna do in the

[:

[00:07:39] That's easy.

[:

[00:07:41] Jeff Nesbitt: like a mini golf or something.

[:

[00:07:48] Jeff Nesbitt: Oh, I see. And a plane

[:

[00:07:56] Jeff Nesbitt: I would like to get on a I wanna fly it. I wanna drive it. What

[:

[00:08:05] Colten Chalker: Oh, that

[:

[00:08:09] Hannah Chalker: Yeah. Be cool. Still working on that.

[:

[00:08:14] Colten Chalker: Yeah.

[:

[00:08:19] I

[:

[00:08:25] Um, I,

[:

[00:08:32] I just, people

[:

[00:08:37] Hannah Chalker: I, well, I mean, I also feel like at the same time a lot of people will just like, wait people that I know and they're like, yeah, I didn't wanna ask What's going on with that? That's exactly, yeah.

[:

[00:08:56] Yeah. People are asking people around me to see like what's

[:

[00:09:03] Stress

[:

[00:09:08] No, no. I probably haven't seen

[:

[00:09:13] Well, they are having, uh, years ago they can't conceive a child. They tried for a long time. Hank Peggy and um, they're eventually, they're just like, well, I guess get a puppy. And they get a puppy fall in love with the dog and they're laughing and all of a sudden they're rekindling their own spark.

[:

[00:09:40] Hannah Chalker: the dog. But for a second I just had to be like, wait a minute, urethras are not involved. I thought we're talking about the woman. And I was like, that is not how that works.

[:

[00:09:49] Jeff Nesbitt: it. Got it. Yeah. No, the male urethra. Yeah. Hank had a narrow one. Apparently

[:

[00:09:55] did. Yeah. His dad had a big one. He could pass the child himself if he had to

[:

[00:10:13] don't, you guys didn't watch King of the Hill, huh?

[:

[00:10:19] Jeff Nesbitt: are one of my favorite shows.

[:

[00:10:24] but

[:

[00:10:32] appears

[:

[00:10:38] Jeff Nesbitt: getting reconnected. Yeah. Getting plumbed back up.

[:

[00:10:52] Jeff Nesbitt: Yeah. Money's just money, but

[:

[00:10:54] okay. Life goes on. You guys.

[:

[00:11:12] Jeff Nesbitt: Yeah.

[:

[00:11:18] I mean, there's a chance it could still work. That we've found, we've done a lot of research since then and found out lots of people this like three years later it finally works cuz they like, we've had the tests, my tubes are repaired, they're open, but they just don't function properly anymore cuz there's like the Celia inside moving the egg and there's a spot that's

[:

[00:11:43] Scarred, yeah. Not moving it. So it's like it could happen, but also wanna wait, find out four years from now. Yeah. So we should've, should've just went with IVF to But like we, we said last

[:

[00:12:02] Explain what you mean by

[:

[00:12:11] Jeff Nesbitt: That's

[:

[00:12:23] Colten Chalker: I go up there

[:

[00:12:35] What are you gonna

[:

[00:12:41] Jeff Nesbitt: No, I'm, I'm interested. Let's hear this process. It's just gonna suck an egg. Oh, you're gonna suck it down past that. The danger zone. I

[:

[00:12:49] Colten Chalker: tree.

[:

[00:12:56] Jeff Nesbitt: the fruit from

[:

[00:13:11] Hannah Chalker: Hey

[:

[00:13:15] Jeff Nesbitt: shaking, just repetitive, violent back and forth shaking. You should do the trick. Yeah,

[:

[00:13:25] one of those. It just like right behind you

[:

[00:13:30] Yeah. You went on an Easter egg hunt Jeff

[:

[00:13:36] Jeff Nesbitt: Yes. That was not a good treasure in there. a boil in my ear. Ooh, it's.

[:

[00:13:55] Hannah Chalker: Ooh.

[:

[00:14:00] time? No,

[:

[00:14:07] Hannah Chalker: Sherry is Karen, stay

[:

[00:14:22] doctors. has nothing to do with the fact that he's dying all the time.

[:

[00:14:28] do

[:

[00:14:42] It's like

[:

[00:14:46] door.

[:

[00:14:52] Jeff Nesbitt: Terrible. Yeah. Terrible. Have you guys heard about this, this, uh, train situation in East Palestine, Ohio. Ohio? Yes. Pretty crazy. what do you think that's all about? Think it was planned.

[:

[00:15:22] Hannah Chalker: trailer? Oh yeah. No, it took me a minute to think about who my stepdad was.

[:

[00:15:36] Hannah Chalker: Yeah. No, I got it. No. Yeah, yeah.

[:

[00:15:53] And a sensor went off in the truck saying like, trailer break problems. And he was like,

[:

[00:16:18] The works.

[:

[00:16:22] Hannah Chalker: No. I think the truck just didn't know what was going on. Like it knew there was a problem. It felt a little bit of resistance. The brakes weren't the problem, but that's the code the truck through. Oh. Um, but there was a bad problem. That sucks. He was like, it's fine.

[:

[00:16:43] Jeff Nesbitt: fine. Um, Colten, do you remember when we worked at the refuge and somebody was towing a boat trailer over the bridge, over the Astoria Bridge and wheels fell off on the bridge and rolled down the Astoria.

[:

[00:17:15] Yeah. So like when I hear about tires flying, like flying into like town is kind of funny, but

[:

[00:17:24] I mean, it's kind of bad.

[:

[00:17:27] Hannah Chalker: in that bouncy, like giant death Orioles That's right.

[:

[00:17:35] Hannah Chalker: Yeah.

[:

[00:17:40] You guys wanna do some of these

[:

[00:17:45] Yeah. Keep going. We, we

[:

[00:17:48] Hannah Chalker: like there. Take some. Yeah. And I'm not gonna read ones that are like that first one That sucked. Yeah,

[:

[00:17:56] Hannah Chalker: I think when you find one, you should target it at a person. I like that Like, I have this one because I know the answer about you two, but I don't know that I know this about Melissa. So Melissa, what jobs did you have during your teenage years?

[:

[00:18:19] Yeah,

[:

[00:18:25] it's just mostly hats.

[:

[00:18:29] hats. I think.

[:

[00:18:51] Hannah Chalker: who's this for?

[:

[00:18:59] Jeff Nesbitt: Great

[:

[00:19:08] Hannah Chalker: good pair of butt

[:

[00:19:15] Hannah Chalker: I just try not to buy jeans unless I've deemed their good butt jeans, those

[:

[00:19:29] but yeah, like I feel, I feel best in a good pair of jeans.

[:

[00:19:44] Jeff Nesbitt: like fourth grade, right? It is fourth grade.

[:

[00:20:34] Colten Chalker: Yeah,

[:

[00:20:50] Hannah Chalker: is good. That is

[:

[00:21:02] Jeff Nesbitt: That is tough because that's not like what it, what I, what do I like the most about how, not like how it affects me, but what do I admire? Yeah, that's hard. There's more of.

[:

[00:21:24] Um, her ability to function in social groups is very impressive to me. How she can manage conversations with like a lot of people at once and not have any problem with it. Also, she can still communicate pretty well and like, function in society when she has zero energy and I, I cannot do that at all. Um, words just stop coming outta my face

[:

[00:22:12] Um, so that's cool. There is probably more, I'm gonna stop there. Those are good Okay. I, I'll do what's the oldest item in your

[:

[00:22:36] Hannah Chalker: come on, Jeff. Did I already ask that? I, I'm pretty sure it's been brought up before. . Did you do it on purpose? Uh, besides Max is okay. We don't have to talk about it. Max isn't old. The oldest thing in our house.

[:

[00:23:02] Jeff Nesbitt: I think we have old books, like from That's,

[:

[00:23:10] Jeff Nesbitt: or early 19 when are those books from? Cuz if they're pre, if they're between uh, 1911 and really like to cuz that's like a bunch of history anyway.

[:

[00:23:35] Hannah Chalker: time.

[:

[00:23:46] Jeff Nesbitt: She tried to wear her grandma's nightgown to, to our marital bed.

[:

[00:23:56] Jeff Nesbitt: She

[:

[00:24:03] now, You

[:

[00:24:04] Hannah Chalker: this bed.

[:

[00:24:21] Jeff Nesbitt: With anyway, decades of wear on that yellowed fabric. It had ghosts

[:

[00:24:27] And

[:

[00:24:31] Hannah Chalker: It's very special. not have

[:

[00:24:46] Hannah Chalker: I

[:

[00:24:51] Jeff Nesbitt: what, uh, yeah, I could let it slide eventually, but I would take some doing. She was great.

[:

[00:25:08] What are you passionate

[:

[00:25:14] Hannah Chalker: sure.

[:

[00:25:27] Jeff Nesbitt: yet. Too bad just go into that god awful place.

[:

[00:25:32] Hannah Chalker: Well true. Yeah. But like when I really think of my nastiest times when I, it's the closest I come to fighting. It involves my own children. Yeah, You know, and I

[:

[00:26:20] Hannah Chalker: It's

[:

[00:26:29] Horses too. Hannah. Yeah. If you don't like horses then fuck

[:

[00:26:36] Jeff Nesbitt: Yeah. I guess

[:

[00:26:42] Jeff Nesbitt: what'd they ever do to you other than feed you and nourish you your entire

[:

[00:26:49] Jeff Nesbitt: I know. You remember when we had a disappointed me cut that chicken's head off

[:

[00:26:54] I do Oh God, It was a, a hilarious.

[:

[00:26:59] Hannah Chalker: decapitation. Oh, you guys don't have chickens

[:

[00:27:11] Jeff Nesbitt: Oh, I killed a few.

[:

[00:27:19] Did you I did also But she was trying real hard to be a

[:

[00:27:42] Yeah. I didn't even feel bad about it.

[:

[00:27:59] Hannah Chalker: Oh, mine is not any different. I didn't change a thing to let Colten in. . I assume

[:

[00:28:10] Hannah Chalker: Wait,

[:

[00:28:15] Yeah.

[:

[00:28:23] loves it.

[:

[00:28:35] eating more Thai

[:

[00:28:40] Hannah Chalker: No, I just cook him meals so he doesn't have to leave all the time.

[:

[00:28:43] Colten Chalker: it. .

[:

[00:28:45] yeah, we'll say yes. Well, I mean,

[:

[00:28:51] long as they're not your wife,

[:

[00:29:00] What are you guys rocking? 88 gallons. What?

[:

[00:29:05] Jeff Nesbitt: Yeah.

[:

[00:29:07] Colten Chalker: Real tight.

[:

[00:29:08] Hannah Chalker: about it. It's, it's clearly you

[:

[00:29:22] Yeah, that's what I want.

[:

[00:29:31] Hannah Chalker: you know,

[:

[00:29:33] It affects him most. He's a sensitive boy. because he

[:

[00:29:37] and it's like a long hot shower at the end of the day. Like he's in there for a long time getting

[:

[00:29:44] Hannah Chalker: grime off.

[:

[00:29:46] I mean, I don't know what you're doing, but you're just in there for a really long

[:

[00:30:02] as much, but

[:

[00:30:13] Jeff Nesbitt: That's cool. You have like assigned times or roughly? We don't, we really don't. Like I will take a shower usually between

[:

[00:30:22] and four in the morning, . Um, and if I try to take a shower any other time, sorry, will run in there and take a shit right before he'll hear me, grab my towel upstairs and he'll scamper on in there and take a shit.

[:

[00:30:37] Melissa Nesbitt: Oh. And

[:

[00:30:56] Hannah Chalker: Backwards for free. So would you guys change your habits if you're single?

[:

[00:31:06] Hannah Chalker: I actually, we kind of had this conversation last night when Robert was talking about how he's changed and how like in his early twenties he would like, oh my gosh, I'm never taking a 9:00 AM class again.

[:

[00:31:26] you were saying that just now I realize that I've been the exact same person since about seventh grade. Like I used to get up early and have morning coffee in seventh grade watching live with Regis and Kelly on the East Coast feed before school.

[:

[00:31:41] Colten Chalker: weird.

[:

[00:31:44] liked Regis.

[:

[00:31:48] after.

[:

[00:32:01] Jeff Nesbitt: do you just wake up? Do you even use an

[:

[00:32:11] Jeff Nesbitt: you're consistent. Yeah. That's really healthy. That's supposedly is very good for your heart and everything to have really consistent circadian patterns. I

[:

[00:32:26] when I'm tired and I would just do things when I wanted to do them all the time instead of trying to schedule. to fit other which is very hard to do and not very But, um, I would do the same things. I would just do them. Like,

[:

[00:32:46] would probably go to bed around eight o'clock every night. I'd wake up around three. Um, and that, like, when I live alone, that's just what happens. fall into those patterns

[:

[00:32:56] I get so tired. So it's the, I think it's honestly like partially anxiety.

[:

[00:33:22] Everybody.

[:

[00:33:24] yeah, you were one of those other bitches. I feel that

[:

[00:33:29] other

[:

[00:33:31] Jeff Nesbitt: I do too. It's just, it's, it evades me. But one

[:

[00:33:46] Jeff Nesbitt: So Sawyer, he, he, well he fishes crazy

[:

[00:33:50] Hannah Chalker: Oh, wow.

[:

[00:34:03] Oh

[:

[00:34:11] Jeff Nesbitt: That's a good question. I also wanna know, it's

[:

[00:34:20] Jeff Nesbitt: that the thing

[:

[00:34:24] I think everybody should have to answer this one. Yeah. You

[:

[00:34:50] sexiest, good, loving

[:

[00:34:54] Things

[:

[00:34:56] do, you're, yeah. In the bedroom.

[:

[00:34:59] Yeah.

[:

[00:35:04] You can pick either one. Either way. I feel, I feel uncomfortable right now. Should we come back to you ? Yeah. Can we come back to here? All right. Colten, take it from here. .

[:

[00:35:14] Hannah Chalker: no, I don't wanna look at his face while he

[:

[00:35:18] you gotta give him those eyes that he was giving you. I can't do it. So he knows you support him?

[:

[00:35:27] you still turn to answer.

[:

[00:35:30] Jeff Nesbitt: She's

[:

[00:35:48] Jeff Nesbitt: I think he's talking about like a

[:

[00:35:53] Colten Chalker: Yeah.

[:

[00:35:59] He likes a limber lady.

[:

[00:36:11] Jeff Nesbitt: It's pretty easy for me. Uh, wait. , what's the wording again? I gotta make sure I get it's so tough. I think. It's just something in the way that she looks at me sometimes and the way that I know I can always trust her to be there for me, to support me and everything I also really like it when she tickles my balls.

[:

[00:36:50] Google. It's okay. It'll be like that time. I don't do, do you remember that time when I had everybody in the staff room Google felting?

[:

[00:37:02] but you don't wanna know.

[:

[00:37:05] Jeff Nesbitt: sounds like, let wait. Let's

[:

[00:37:10] Jeff Nesbitt: I think, I feel like we could do it from the derivation. No of the word. Is it a como of two words? Uhuh. Belching and maybe something else. No. It

[:

[00:37:16] Jeff Nesbitt: is just vagina, belching.

[:

[00:37:20] Colten Chalker: wait, belching? I'm not. Yeah, that's a

[:

[00:37:24] That's how you know Exactly. You Just

[:

[00:37:35] It's,

[:

[00:37:47] Hannah Chalker: how did she read? Not even PubMed.

[:

[00:37:50] did you read that with a such a straight face? That was

[:

[00:37:57] Incredible.

[:

[00:37:59] Jeff Nesbitt: That

[:

[00:38:07] Hannah Chalker: Oh, I know what it is. I remember we had this conversation and no Colten. I will not,

[:

[00:38:21] Jeff Nesbitt: I know what it is.

[:

[00:38:25] Hannah Chalker: It's

[:

[00:38:29] So he's been talking about it for years. ?

[:

[00:38:36] Jeff Nesbitt: never even asked.

[:

[00:38:38] Just, just what, immediately, what I think looks the sexiest is just like every single day when you get outta the shower, I'm like, dang, I'm married to that. I think it all the time

[:

[00:38:53] No. No

[:

[00:38:58] Jeff Nesbitt: Man, you better. That's crazy. If you don't, It's like wiping

[:

[00:39:05] Colten Chalker: poop.

[:

[00:39:20] do

[:

[00:39:23] pretend like you don't know. It's constant.

[:

[00:39:30] mind What frightens you most about growing old?

[:

[00:39:40] Jeff Nesbitt: Oh, that's a bad

[:

[00:39:55] I, I think probably the scariest thing would be if I get old and like had to lose, probably just losing loved ones. Other than that, but like if I get to live a old healthy life and kids grow and stuff, I think it'd be pretty great. Yeah. That sounds pretty

[:

[00:40:15] Hannah Chalker: though. Like losing loved ones would would be the worst part if I get old and I outlive too many loved ones. And then you're just sad if your

[:

[00:40:26] Hannah Chalker: I'm just too damn healthy. Yeah.

[:

[00:40:30] That's a good answer. All right.

[:

[00:40:34] Hannah Chalker: like

[:

[00:40:38] Hannah Chalker: Sloppy

[:

[00:40:42] Colten Chalker: Yeah.

[:

[00:41:10] Hannah Chalker: That does suck. Yeah. And honestly, I'm pretty bad, like real bad when I have to have surgery or any kind of thing that sets me back.

[:

[00:41:24] Jeff Nesbitt: Yeah. You have to work so much harder to stay positive. Yeah. When you, you're yeah. Not think that's probably mine too. Just the ailments as you age. Like when you can't walk your life changes so much and it's.

[:

[00:41:41] Hannah Chalker: fragile thing. Walk.

[:

[00:41:51] Hannah Chalker: probably. See I lost my great grandma this year and she was like 94 and she is a tough old woman and she's a lot like my mom.

[:

[00:42:24] Jeff Nesbitt: Yeah. And sometimes it No, but I think you kind of have to, you don't have a choice. You if you, if you get all weak about it, you'll

[:

[00:42:40] Jeff Nesbitt: The

[:

[00:42:45] Yeah. Um, you don't see a lot of, uh, soft giants in the nineties. No. None How many have you seen?

[:

[00:43:02] Hannah Chalker: Oh yeah. We're back on the tall people die early. Subjective. St. Bernard's. We've talked

[:

[00:43:08] Great. Danes. Yeah. Worries. The list goes. Andre the Giant.

[:

[00:43:24] yeah. young.

[:

[00:43:33] The guy with like an arm for a

[:

[00:43:35] Hannah Chalker: And it really is a thing. You don't see very many giant old guys.

[:

[00:43:49] You guys don't know Ving Rams? Jamie, pull it up. I mean, Malcolm pull it up.

[:

[00:43:57] Irving Rameses Rhames, known professionally as "Ving" Rhames, is an American actor.

[:

[00:44:08] And, the organized crime boss: Marcellus Wallus in Quentin Tarintino's Pulp Fiction.

[:

[00:44:16] What does Marcellus Wallace look like?

[:

[00:44:32] And you know what I'm saying?

[:

[00:44:40] Again, Again, I double dare you motherfucker. Say what? Got damn fast.

[:

[00:45:00] And why are you trying to fucking like a bitch? You're shooting. Yes.

[:

[00:45:10] I'm getting body misses. Once

[:

[00:45:20] And to be honest I really thought that was James Earl Jones, but no... It is Ving "the king" motherfucking Raymes!

[:

[00:45:27] Yeah, he was in, , pulp Fiction. He was the guy who, who at the end he got, you know, he got Bruce Willis broke him outta the pawn shop. Ving Rains.

[:

[00:45:46] What would you like old age to look like for you? Young?

[:

[00:45:55] are we talking magic or, or just like, what are you hoping for?

[:

[00:46:12] Jeff Nesbitt: Yeah. It kind of seems like the, the, if you gotta like, be wealthy to do anything, things are fucking

[:

[00:46:28] Jeff Nesbitt: question. Yeah. I, I do too. Like more time. I would like to be able to adjust the speed of time. Yeah. Like if I'm into something I really want more time for, I'd like to be able to slow it down a little bit. Um, and vice versa, if I'm at church, like to speed it up. but yeah, no, I don't need to actually like, change the amount, just the cuz that's, that can horrifying just to sit somewhere where to be, or you know, having to be ripped away from So time matters. What about you?

[:

[00:47:08] he could use

[:

[00:47:18] Hannah Chalker: What do you

[:

[00:47:30] Jeff Nesbitt: Oh, cuz you're out of yeah,

[:

[00:47:39] Hannah Chalker: It is.

[:

[00:47:54] I think both you and I have a thing in common where we tell all our friends everything

[:

[00:48:09] I,

[:

[00:48:16] Jeff Nesbitt: I don't at all.

[:

[00:48:22] Hannah Chalker: Yeah, it's true.

[:

[00:48:28] Melissa Nesbitt: purpose. Right.

[:

[00:48:37] All right.

[:

[00:48:43] Did you not know about it? Because I thought I had shared that with you. My loved I make 'em all.

[:

[00:48:53] Hannah Chalker: it. Okay. If you could hang out this one's for everybody, with any celebrity for a whole day, would it be

[:

[00:49:01] why? It doesn't say and why, but I wanna know.

[:

[00:49:05] Hannah Chalker: It is a good question.

[:

[00:49:09] Hannah Chalker: it's gonna be a scientist.

[:

[00:49:18] Quitted.

[:

[00:49:20] Hannah Chalker: It's

[:

[00:49:25] Jeff Nesbitt: Huberman. Yeah, that's, he'd be a good hang Rogan.

[:

[00:49:36] use I think Joe Rogan I think I'm just paranoid cuz I wanted, I would want him to like me so much.

[:

[00:49:51] Yeah.

[:

[00:50:01] I don't know

[:

[00:50:07] Why? So defensive Colten been listening to Andrew Tate a little bit.

[:

[00:50:18] come up with a legit with Jeff? That's your

[:

[00:50:29] Hannah Chalker: This doesn't matter. your imagination and it's not gonna happen. If we

[:

[00:50:40] Hannah Chalker: I mean, if they're dead, you can ask 'em whatever you want. I

[:

[00:50:51] I'll

[:

[00:50:53] God, he fucking isolate, you know, he didn't. What happened was, I thought he knew the answers. Or I thought even if he doesn't know the answers, he's real smart, but it turns out he doesn't know any of the ideas. No. Anything? No. So, uh, but what happened was during the brain. This is for the million dollar.

[:

[00:51:26] How much money did he have on him? I had money on it. He was a fan. You have a lot. How many ballpark. So he was worried what? Ballpark? I don't know. 50, 50, 50,000? Yeah. Okay. So I was pretty, you know, into it. And, uh, he wanted to know. I want him to know. So, so then when he, and I had just guessed on an answer.

[:

[00:52:05] That's all he was trying to do. And actually, if I had answered the million dollars, it would have been better for the show. Because they have an insurance policy. And if someone wins the million. Terrence company. So the half a million is the worst thing that could happen to them.

[:

[00:52:20] Hannah Chalker: that was sad, but I didn't miss Uh, it was, I wanna say

[:

[00:52:34] Hannah Chalker: Uh, who's your celebrity, Melissa?

[:

[00:52:46] Jeff Nesbitt: See, I think you guys would get along great she seems cool. She seems like a regular Yeah.

[:

[00:53:08] pretty funny. Did we finish that? I think we watched the first half.

[:

[00:53:20] That one. Oh yeah.

[:

[00:53:21] Colten Chalker: did see that joke. So funny. I thought that was very funny.

[:

[00:53:30] TSI

[:

[00:53:35] pretty funny too.

[:

[00:53:49] Dave Bird. Little Dicky. He's pretty funny. Hilarious.

[:

[00:54:01] no. Far

[:

[00:54:13] Colten Chalker: No.

[:

[00:54:30] Hannah Chalker: Um, I mean, I don't,

[:

[00:54:31] Jeff Nesbitt: Yes,

[:

[00:54:34] if that's the case, I could do that for a day. I think

[:

[00:54:42] Hannah Chalker: Yeah. You get

[:

[00:55:08] wouldn't.

[:

[00:55:10] It would depend on the day. They might be,

[:

[00:55:14] this year, if there was leave They're

[:

[00:55:22] Hannah Chalker: If there was ever a year pull it off, it would be This year. My class is pretty good.

[:

[00:55:35] the, listen, we can't talk

[:

[00:55:37] those

[:

[00:55:41] That was really funny. So we're at a concert at the Christmas concert and like the student does not even know that Colten is my husband. And they had got up and Chalker, can I go to the bathroom? Like, Hey, it's almost over. Can you hold tight? No. They left the stage and went to the bathroom and Colten happened be going to the bathroom at the same time.

[:

[00:56:10] Colten Chalker: was like,

[:

[00:56:21] Jeff Nesbitt: that could be awkward. I don't like going to the bathroom at

[:

[00:56:23] No. And there's a little girl in there,

[:

[00:56:30] You did, like, did you put your dick away? Right

[:

[00:56:33] I wouldn't be able to pee with little girl in the room.

[:

[00:56:55] Yeah. But it's not, it doesn't always go well and yeah. And yeah, I still don't feel good about public bathroom alone. Yeah. Even if it's a women's bathroom. But, she

[:

[00:57:10] Jeff Nesbitt: Yeah. To where it's like a belt that just like under her butt.

[:

[00:57:36] even Lane, he's getting too,

[:

[00:57:44] Hannah Chalker: older. Oh they look, they look older than they are And Lane is definitely gonna stare at some boobs. ,

[:

[00:57:50] great. .

[:

[00:57:55] it's Oh no, you gotta hear this, this twerking thing that way also, it's, it's been recorded forever and Poor Lane will be tortured with this later.

[:

[00:58:18] Uh,

[:

[00:58:23] Oh.

[:

[00:58:27] like, we'll be late in bed at night and he gets out of bed and he comes in to like, give us one more hug.

[:

[00:58:44] shit.

[:

[00:58:53] I mean, my reaction is the same, but it's pretty hilarious because one day he's gonna realize what he's doing and he is gonna be like, I was humping my

[:

[00:59:16] Jeff Nesbitt: it's the same when a dog does it, it's like kind of funny for a second. , then you, then you're like, Ugh, get off me.

[:

[00:59:32] You ever had a dog ejaculate on you?

[:

[00:59:35] No.

[:

[00:59:42] Okay, so we know Colten has me think, stop protest too much. That means I think you jerked off a dog.

[:

[00:59:59] Ew.

[:

[01:00:13] Like I was legitimately offended.

[:

[01:00:20] Not

[:

[00:00:00] Hannah Chalker: I have

[:

[00:00:08] Jeff Nesbitt: I'm gonna try to make the serious one. Funny .

[:

[00:00:19] Jeff Nesbitt: Ooh,

[:

[00:00:23] wants to go first?

[:

[00:00:42] Hannah Chalker: you,

[:

[00:00:49] Oh,

[:

[00:00:54] not flexible and I don't even care about

[:

[00:01:03] Hannah Chalker: you do?

[:

[00:01:06] Glucosamine. Is that, are you taking it? Didn't you used to?

[:

[00:01:33] I have a whole line. What are you taking? What's

[:

[00:01:36] Oh yeah. N c That We had and Acet assisting. Yeah. Well the audience, you know, they might not know what knack There could be any other knackers out there. Don't know what it even means. Patty Whack. Yeah.

[:

[00:01:53] Hannah Chalker: I know. To knack,

[:

[00:01:56] Jeff Nesbitt: Supports cellular function. I'm also taking tyrosine. It's good for adhd. Yeah. just L Tyrosine. I,

[:

[00:02:19] Oh. But it's a lot of the things you already mentioned. like, good for Yeah. Have

[:

[00:02:45] Yeah. It's gonna shake the fruit

[:

[00:02:55] Jeff Nesbitt: I'm thinking.

[:

[00:03:01] I listened I I It's real. Yeah. Like

[:

[00:03:05] power of belief really is very strong. It is. And you can trick yourself healing. Yeah.

[:

[00:03:23] Hannah Chalker: it is.

[:

[00:03:25] Jeff Nesbitt: You're getting your count done again. Yeah. Again. Well cool. Cuz now you have a baseline. You know how it can actually use something. Compare it to

[:

[00:03:42] Jeff Nesbitt: Last time your sperm count was high, right? Yeah. Motility was good too, right? Pretty good.

[:

[00:03:48] Jeff Nesbitt: I've never looked at mine. I'd like to check it I have a microscope. Is it yours at

[:

[00:03:55] Jeff Nesbitt: Oh, my sperm count? Yeah. No, I, yeah, there's none in there. I'd still have to look at it.

[:

[00:04:02] Colten Chalker: thing.

[:

[00:04:05] Colten Chalker: Can I

[:

[00:04:10] It's got separate

[:

[00:04:12] wall.

[:

[00:04:19] Colten Chalker: I'm, familiar. little

[:

[00:04:32] Colten Chalker: A Pipette? Yeah. That's a callback.

[:

[00:04:53] Huh? it

[:

[00:04:55] On your phone. That's cool. For

[:

[00:04:57] You

[:

[00:05:05] cheeseburger.

[:

[00:05:06] Hannah Chalker: you could just borrow Golden .

[:

[00:05:10] Hannah Chalker: though. No, not really. There's like really no part of it that like I don't wanna hold it.

[:

[00:05:16] you just like

[:

[00:05:20] Hannah Chalker: but like the part that you use and put that thing on, it's like one slide that goes into the thing with ticket. Well

[:

[00:05:28] Hannah Chalker: No, I'm trying to give you the machine cuz I think it's weird that he potted.

[:

[00:05:33] Jeff Nesbitt: it. Yeah. Get your money's worth. I see. Just advertise it. Like who wants to borrow Colten? Colton's Js reader

[:

[00:05:42] I agree and I

[:

[00:05:52] Jeff Nesbitt: of him trying it out

[:

[00:05:56] Colten Chalker: it's. not,

[:

[00:06:14] it's like a for confidence You got some nice

[00:06:34] yourself the time. you just have to like count how many press, draw Square and Yeah. Count Is it It's a video. They're moving.

[:

[00:06:53] Hannah Chalker: a, I've some talks about it. I feel like I

[:

[00:06:57] I trust her.

[:

[00:06:59] Jeff Nesbitt: Yeah.

[:

[00:07:08] Yeah.

[:

[00:07:12] Colten Chalker: I know

[:

[00:07:15] Colten Chalker: I don't even care if they're

[:

[00:07:16] I don't even, I don't see how they could be any more evil than our own government. Yeah.

[:

[00:07:27] Colten Chalker: well, and

[:

[00:07:37] Jeff Nesbitt: at all.

[:

[00:07:43] Hannah Chalker: Could be. It's good. It's a good

[:

[00:07:49] Colten Chalker: Yeah, for sure.

[:

[00:07:59] what kind of drums?

[:

[00:08:12] Colten Chalker: There you go. Singer.

[:

[00:08:18] Colten Chalker: Do you still play your guitar?

[:

[00:08:23] Jeff Nesbitt: Yeah. Music's

[:

[00:08:40] Hannah Chalker: Wayne's Well we could do jazz.

[:

[00:08:50] That's true.

[:

[00:08:53] quickly

[:

[00:09:00] songs aren't great. They're, they don't make all that much sense, but it does do it.

[:

[00:09:34] No, no. I didn't actually, when I was 14, I, I went and sang at the church with her a couple times, and that was fine for some reason. But she wanted me to like, sit in her bedroom with her and her songs. And, um, I should have, would've been really good for me, but I was, I no, doesn't seem right.

[:

[00:10:06] Hannah Chalker: Oh, this is

[:

[00:10:37] What

[:

[00:10:39] Aw,

[:

[00:11:02] So that's just so Capricorn of you. Is Capricorn the goat? Yeah.

[:

[00:11:08] Jeff Nesbitt: Wait, do this with two That's the baff Don't actually know, summon baff.

[:

[00:11:55] Hannah Chalker: Uh,

[:

[00:12:16] not a Leo card.

[:

[00:12:22] Jeff Nesbitt: was

[:

[00:12:26] It should be.

[:

[00:12:32] Jeff Nesbitt: It's

[:

[00:12:45] Jeff Nesbitt: That's, uh, concerning the whole balloon Not because of the balloon, but because I think they're covering It's too, it's too cute. Distracting. Like, Ooh, everybody look at the Chinese balloon. Well, really they're just like covering up all those

[:

[00:13:07] Jeff Nesbitt: Melissa is not into Really?

[:

[00:13:12] Jeff Nesbitt: totally know. You and me. Balloon

[:

[00:13:15] jump out a You did that already,

[:

[00:13:20] Oh, that was Hylton.

[:

[00:13:26] skydiving,

[:

[00:13:35] It's cold.

[:

[00:13:37] You got fire. Because shell.

[:

[00:13:49] Jeff Nesbitt: No, uh, earlier. Me and Melissa were making a and she was skeptical. Yeah. You can steer 'em. You got all those sandbags. Just someone can.

[:

[00:14:05] Colten Chalker: Yeah.

[:

[00:14:08] Hannah Chalker: sandbag. Yeah. They, they also like turn on the fire.

[:

[00:14:14] Jeff Nesbitt: fire? I don't worry about that part. It'll come down. You turn

[:

[00:14:16] Colten Chalker: the

[:

[00:14:18] the You just ride it down,

[:

[00:14:24] Jeff Nesbitt: off, comes gotta fashion yourself. A parachute from the balloon

[:

[00:14:52] Melissa Nesbitt: I'm

[:

[00:15:13] Jeff Nesbitt: It is weird what

[:

[00:15:14] Melissa Nesbitt: you're afraid and

[:

[00:15:32] that If I'm afraid I want to try that. We jumped off a lot of things this year. We did.

[:

[00:15:47] Hannah Chalker: It was really fun. So fun. I loved it.

[:

[00:15:51] But

[:

[00:15:59] Straight down

[:

[00:16:02] Jeff Nesbitt: Okay. So is it, it's a.

[:

[00:16:04] it's just like, it, it catches you once you've fallen a little bit and you just

[:

[00:16:10] Jeff Nesbitt: wouldn't like that?

[:

[00:16:19] Jeff Nesbitt: Yeah. I don't, I don't wouldn't want that. I

[:

[00:16:23] Jeff Nesbitt: you know. Yeah. Or your, the, the catch mechanism broke off or something.

[:

[00:16:57] It does amazing how bad that hurts your

[:

[00:17:05] Hannah Chalker: have a weak

[:

[00:17:18] Hannah Chalker: Hey, if you guys wanna go on a date, back to that place that we went for your birthday, the four of that again though. Yeah, that would be fun. was really.

[:

[00:17:29] I learned a lesson. I would not start on the second story again because that was where all the stuff that we could do was, and then when we went up to the third one, I didn't know that it was also taller and difficult.

[:

[00:17:48] ones. Yeah.

[:

[00:17:53] Hannah Chalker: It is. When you're on the third one. Like you really have to have It was.

[:

[00:18:12] glad.

[:

[00:18:14] Like

[:

[00:18:16] Jeff Nesbitt: off. I don't, I think that would have the opposite we sober.

[:

[00:18:28] drinking

[:

[00:18:35] And

[:

[00:18:40] Yeah.

[:

[00:18:42] So we should definitely drink. Wow. Melissa's birthday. It was worth it. But then like it was actually like a workout up there. Like we're all.

[:

[00:18:54] was hot, physical exercise and terrified all at the same time. And when we were done, we were all like, we cannot feel that we had one drop of alcohol whatsoever.

[:

[00:19:08] at

[:

[00:19:11] Jeff Nesbitt: That sounds like a lot of fun. I wanna go.

[:

[00:19:25] that

[:

[00:19:37] it

[:

[00:19:41] Jeff Nesbitt: Rihanna

[:

[00:19:46] Hannah Chalker: Yeah. She was in a

[:

[00:19:47] Jeff Nesbitt: She was wearing a

[:

[00:19:58] I saw a deep fake of, uh,

[:

[00:20:02] Super Bowl halftime show. Except it was Snoop Dogg's face on Rihanna's body . So funny. It really made it really pop.

[:

[00:20:14] Hannah Chalker: Yes.

[:

[00:20:42] I would not like that Yeah. But I mean, it's not

[:

[00:20:51] I mean it, what I find hard about that cuz I pushed myself through both pregnancies and like, especially the second one and tried to

[:

[00:21:00] and everything. I physically, I could keep doing it, but I no long, all of a sudden I felt like when I felt pains or this ache that you can work through, I felt like I was not allowed to work through that because I didn't know if it was just me that I was working through.

[:

[00:21:24] Jeff Nesbitt: I always, they must have doctors telling 'em it's okay to do.

[:

[00:21:28] Jeff Nesbitt: though. They say it's fine to just work out as much as you want. I

[:

[00:21:39] Jeff Nesbitt: just trust in your gut. Yeah.

[:

[00:21:51] had

[:

[00:21:59] No merit. And uh, I challenged you a little bit on that, but didn't seem like I made any headway.

[:

[00:22:13] is all true. Last year. Last year, yeah. So it's been a year and a couple months. Mm-hmm. , I noticed the tension in the room crept up a little bit since I started asking this question.

[:

[00:22:30] So basically what we're saying is the dance is quite similar.

[:

[00:22:34] Jeff Nesbitt: they play it the Xbox? Yes.

[:

[00:22:37] does it, is it cause problems in the house? Does it solve

[:

[00:22:43] Hannah Chalker: Does it solve any

[:

[00:22:51] Jeff Nesbitt: the kids learn way more from video games than they do. Fucking Rebecca Zamolo.

[:

[00:23:17] But really nothing happens ever . And they're hijacking little kid's attention. Oh, that's all they're doing. Gotcha. And they're, it's, I hate it.

[:

[00:23:32] Hannah Chalker: Watch Yeah.

[:

[00:23:37] I get, I I, I'm just saying, I understand the sentiment of like, why waste your fucking time.

[:

[00:23:42] Jeff Nesbitt: Yeah. But I, but I do think video games have some, some benefits like hand eye coordination and just overall interest. Getting kids interested in stuff stimulation with, with, uh, like challenge.

[:

[00:23:57] It can get way outta

[:

[00:24:08] There it, if the threat of, uh, screens in general has kind of melded for me with video games, I, I actually video games seem less, less scary than social media and YouTube.

[:

[00:24:27] Hannah Chalker: And I think that's kind of how I feel about all I. So many sporting events with their siblings and they're just some kind of screen and they don't ever anymore.

[:

[00:24:42] like Yeah. And I, you lane gets on some other kids screen that's there , that's not mine.

[:

[00:25:03] But I deal with that too. I, I am so tempted to just like, say no YouTube, no social media, none of it. Yeah. Like, I'm gonna protect my kids and then I realize like, I don't have that option. Right. Like the world is happening around us, regardless of how much I want to protect them from that stuff. And there, and because there are so many benefits to all of that stuff as well.

[:

[00:25:51] It sucks to do. That's something I didn't realize as a kid.

[:

[00:26:00] It's miserable.

[:

[00:26:31] Hannah Chalker: wants to

[:

[00:26:56] Terrible.

[:

[00:27:04] Jeff Nesbitt: don't even remember that

[:

[00:27:11] Jeff Nesbitt: We're, yeah. We've tried to teach them how to have some etiquette on the internet and how really just to stay outta trouble. Because it's, it's pretty easy to get in trouble or to, to be a bully without even realizing that's what you're doing.

[:

[00:27:35] Hannah Chalker: like El

[:

[00:27:46] Oh.

[:

[00:28:13] Jeff Nesbitt: Good. Yeah. It's not, it's not meant for kids who are 11 years

[:

[00:28:18] Yeah.

[:

[00:28:50] I think, I don't think that stuff's good for

[:

[00:28:53] don't think

[:

[00:28:56] Melissa Nesbitt: phone when she was good.

[:

[00:29:31] Jeff Nesbitt: was his first his first reprimand in school ever when he's, he's almost in Highschool. I was. I was like, thank God. Finally something. Because I don't think it's healthy to make it all the way through school without ever bumping up against the line of like, what is acceptable?

[:

[00:29:53] Melissa Nesbitt: Right. But like,

[:

[00:30:31] Wow.

[:

[00:30:39] Yeah. But yeah, I really wasn't mad about the detention at all because he, uh, learned from it. I, I thought of detention, like, um, tokens, for being able to break rules. Like, I pay this much and then I get to break one rule.

[:

[00:31:04] Hannah Chalker: Not that many.

[:

[00:31:11] few.

[:

[00:31:18] Jeff Nesbitt: chatty,

[:

[00:31:23] you just described.

[:

[00:31:24] huh? Yep.

[:

[00:31:32] Melissa Nesbitt: this wasn't

[:

[00:31:53] Jeff Nesbitt: my Bono was pretty happy with that pen too.

[:

[00:32:00] Jeff Nesbitt: Speaking of that boss, I saw her at the Naselle school the other day. she nodded and, and a knowing hello and I was like, oh wow. She recognized me. Didn't expect that you touched by it. I was. I was like, what a nice person. .

[:

[00:32:20] Hannah Chalker: She recognizes me too. She's always like, Laney, how's it going?

[:

[00:32:33] Colten Chalker: Took a shot.

[:

[00:32:52] Hannah Chalker: see her. He almost walked over to her table at Mexican Foods. That's what he said. He's like, I almost wanted to tell her.

[:

[00:33:08] Colten Chalker: What do you mean?

[:

[00:33:13] life? I

[:

[00:33:15] did she have to do with your underwear?

[:

[00:33:20] sounds bad.

[:

[00:33:26] Are they doing this in the schools still? I

[:

[00:33:41] She's still alive.

[:

[00:34:58] not

[:

[00:35:00] someone else,

[:

[00:35:06] Hannah Chalker: What happened down

[:

[00:35:46] Jeff Nesbitt: legitimate medical issue.

[:

[00:36:00] Hannah Chalker: would answer in this inappropriate, same, reasonable manner. .

[:

[00:38:10] Yeah. Not if I'm wearing Whitey Tidies.

[:

[00:38:38] she she did. And gave it. Sent you back to class for

[:

[00:38:57] Jeff Nesbitt: she put you in her book.

[:

[00:39:01] better. Tell me. Well, you know, what else? That story right there, I'm not even sure how, but our first date, night Colten told me that story before we ever even got to where we were going. Like that was like the car ride Ont way there. That was his opener.

[:

[00:39:18] hell.

[:

[00:39:24] Lu bono.

[:

[00:39:37] Um,

[:

[00:39:45] Yeah. History in general. Back then, I was like, oh, who gives a fuck? Move on. Yeah. And now it's like, I love it.

[:

[00:40:13] had a giant erection, he'd fallen asleep.

[:

[00:40:20] Hannah Chalker: class

[:

[00:40:38] Colten Chalker: sleep

[:

[00:40:56] Jeff Nesbitt: Yeah, I, one year in Highschool I signed up for her English class, which was like not the accelerated class. So Hannah, you probably have no idea what we're even talking about you. I

[:

[00:41:12] Jeff Nesbitt: English.

[:

[00:41:17] Colten and Dan Greenfield and Shane Gentry.

[:

[00:41:32] Hannah Chalker: fuck out of here. That's what I feel. I transferred out like she is in middle school.

[:

[00:41:42] Yeah.

[:

[00:41:45] Yeah. In kindergarten you still just get to hit

[:

[00:41:52] Jeff Nesbitt: I hope that's Yeah. I'm sure. It was fun.

[:

[00:42:00] good

[:

[00:42:02] Hannah Chalker: See, that's interesting that you say that because I actually asked, I don't I asked when, like first or second year was like, oh my gosh. Like, have things changed? Like, have, society taken a downturn this past? Or like, he was like,

[:

[00:42:34] Yeah.

[:

[00:42:54] I

[:

[00:43:03] It really upset her. Huh?

[:

[00:43:40] for you

[:

[00:43:42] Colten Chalker: I You're just a kid.

[:

[00:43:50] funny.

[:

[00:44:02] Hannah Chalker: you really evolved a lot I think, cuz I can't even picture him be in that way.

[:

[00:44:14] my inspire a.

[:

[00:44:20] I

[:

[00:44:22] Hannah Chalker: from Bono.

[:

[00:44:30] I

[:

[00:44:34] Jeff Nesbitt: That'd be

[:

[00:44:38] Hannah Chalker: I mean, I had some

[:

[00:44:49] I think they would actually not I was. I was like 22 and those kids were

[:

[00:44:57] You've been over 10 years at your job, huh? Yeah. This

[:

[00:45:03] Jeff Nesbitt: Long time. It It went by fast. Really fast. Yeah. I did crazy fast. I had my 10 year anniversary at my job this Yeah. You, yeah. I don't know. Are you ever gonna do anything else? Or you think you're, you're a lifer? Well,

[:

[00:45:45] I

[:

[00:45:50] I'm happy you're on a daily basis, but I don't know that I'm that amazing.

[:

[00:45:59] Yeah.

[:

[00:46:01] Jeff Nesbitt: not what was, will you say what the jump was that you Just the like from what age

[:

[00:46:08] Oh, from being a middle school math teacher. That's the important part of only being math teaching adolescent against their will to do algebra down to fourth grade.

[:

[00:46:24] Colten Chalker: Yeah, I have

[:

[00:47:08] It's like the video game thing.

[:

[00:47:11] Hannah Chalker: on that. Yeah. And so I just said, you know, that teacher's doing it, that actually, like pretty much all of them I, I, said no, but also sneakily just kept refusing to log in. Cause like, you know, you can only say no for so long

[:

[00:47:27] Jeff Nesbitt: get in trouble.

[:

[00:47:36] Hannah Chalker: Well, I actually think also that like, teaching math is really hard and I'm a unique instance where I've had 10 years of Yeah. There's all these elementary teachers at camp.

[:

[00:48:00] best test scores I've ever seen because I had it point to prove. So I really poured into it all They're star scores like I have That's so I'm having a fun year. I

[:

[00:48:27] what

[:

[00:48:30] It's a old story and I, I, I think Meaning humans. Yeah. Especially

[:

[00:48:41] Jeff Nesbitt: Yeah. Really. That's, that's the truth. Yeah. Yeah. I, I shouldn't have you knew what I was talking about.

[:

[00:48:54] Hannah Chalker: But it's a good,

[:

[00:49:12] Like nobody thinks that nobody.

[:

[00:49:18] Jeff Nesbitt: Yeah. We're a little late in, in the podcast to get into that . Yeah.

[:

[00:49:34] legally. Thank you so much for coming. This is fun.

[:

[00:49:41] Colten Chalker: has Yeah, let's hear one more.

[:

[00:49:50] today,

[:

[00:49:53] else?

[:

[00:50:16] Not very hard, but like my dad of all people and was like, don't talk back. And I was just like so shocked. I was like, he did not, I mean, and he did not. I bet that hurt him. He did not slap me hard at all. Just the fact that he even bothered to say anything. Cuz my mom pants. Was your mom a slapper?

[:

[00:50:49] Colten Chalker: Yeah.

[:

[00:50:58] Hannah Chalker: how

[:

[00:50:59] Like probably 12. Like right at that age where you're gonna start doing

[:

[00:51:12] Hannah Chalker: But mostly I remember that time. My dad's gonna be like,

[:

[00:51:16] about the one time I've

[:

[00:51:18] Jeff Nesbitt: no, I'm definitely cutting this out. I got Mark's back, .

[:

[00:51:23] Melissa Nesbitt: guys? What

[:

[00:52:09] Melissa Nesbitt: it back like

[:

[00:52:33] it

[:

[00:52:39] Jeff Nesbitt: That's the thing. I don't know.

[:

[00:52:41] like they are doing it a lot less. They're

[:

[00:52:48] Jeff Nesbitt: that

[:

[00:52:49] Yeah. They Lambert teamed up. Came up to get us at, uh, Saami Flats

[:

[00:52:56] But

[:

[00:52:59] But we still had some alcohol, so it was all right.

[:

[00:53:07] Jeff Nesbitt: we all, I think we all had one beer after they left, if I recall. That was a really rough trip though, for a few, like we almost got caught multiple times.

[:

[00:53:46] Oh yeah. It had fallen off and it was, that was like on top of the weed, on the ground. And, CJ's mom was home and she was just like walking around putting stuff away in the kitchen. She's like, all right, you guys got everything you need. And we're, we had like,

[:

[00:54:25] Uh, I, I made it out of there, threw this giant mud hole and down the road to the store in Naselle and pumped it up as much as I could. Got back. I think I put a can of fix a flat in it. And then I got back CJ's mom was home and, thought we were caught.

[:

[00:54:50] why would we need pot holders?

[:

[00:54:56] Jeff Nesbitt: Yeah. Yeah. She, that she may have known, we didn't get caught.

[:

[00:55:04] no, That was nice of her. Yeah,

[:

[00:55:16] That's practically dmt. Hannah, to answer your question, it's very. Salvia.

[:

[00:55:24] did I ask that out loud? Yeah. Oh I did. Oh, it was part of the script.

[:

[00:55:31] what

[:

[00:55:41] the purple.

[:

[00:55:42] Hannah Chalker: mother. It was a pretty purple flung

[:

[00:55:51] they did used to call it probably the one.

[:

[00:55:55] Dry it out.

[:

[00:55:56] was, I screw

[:

[00:55:59] Jeff Nesbitt: Yeah. Um, it really is like a rocket ship drugs in your, another dimension

[:

[00:56:06] Jeff Nesbitt: I remember you climbing that wall.

[:

[00:56:17] Jeff Nesbitt: No, this was pre boxer briefs. Okay.

[:

[00:56:22] Jeff Nesbitt: He was pissed. Yeah. We kind of just bought, it was legal then, so we just bought some at the store and then just walked around just offering it to people.

[:

[00:56:38] Hannah Chalker: remember you telling me that story and class.

[:

[00:56:44] Hannah Chalker: Oh, then I Yeah. I just remember Jeff stories no part in like in Mr. Trudell's class.

[:

[00:56:59] Jeff Nesbitt: Yeah. We were chatty in there. I I really learned a ton in that class. I still have memories all the time where I think about, and I'm like, oh yeah, Tom Trudell taught me that.

[:

[00:57:11] Colten Chalker: Well,

[:

[00:57:18] Jeff Nesbitt: Sorry, I didn't mean to, uh, upstate you Tom

[:

[00:57:31] That kid is super talented or he's not a kid. He's a man now, but he used to be a kid.

[:

[00:57:40] Jeff Nesbitt: he's like a

[:

[00:57:54] guys ready to wrap this thing

[:

[00:57:55] guys Put a bow on it

[:

[00:58:00] Jeff Nesbitt: Way to bring it to guys.

[:

[00:58:55] place you can do it.

[:

[00:58:58] seems kind. We

[:

[00:59:02] Colten Chalker: way.

About the Podcast

Ramble by the River
With Jeff Nesbitt
Ramble-(verb)
1. walk for pleasure, typically without a definite route.
2. talk or write at length in a confused or inconsequential way.

Ramble by the River (Ramblebytheriver.com) is about becoming the best human possible.

Join me and my guests, as we discuss the blessing that is the human experience. Ramble by the River is about finding an honest path to truth without losing our sense of humor along the way. It is about healing from the trauma of the past and moving into the next chapter of life with passion.

Common topics include: personal growth, entertainment, pop-culture, technology, education, psychology, drugs, health, history, politics, investing, conspiracies, and amazing personal stories from guests.

Jeff Nesbitt

Jeff Nesbitt is a man of many interests. He is infinitely curious, brutally honest, and genuinely loves people. Jeff grew up in a small coastal community in the Pacific Northwest and after college he moved back to his hometown to start a family. When the Covid-19 crisis hit in 2020, regular social engagement was not an option, and Jeff realized that the missing ingredient in his life was human connection. So, like the fabled Noah and his Ark, Jeff started building a podcast studio without knowing what his show would actually be. Before the paint was even dry, Jeff start recording interviews with interesting friends, and Ramble by the River was born.
