Episode 57

At This Moment on God's Green Earth with Florencia Moncérat Galvan

Published on: 24th January, 2022

In the Season 2 premiere, Jeff welcomes us back with news, show updates, and a quick chat with a surprise guest from Season 1. The main event of this episode is an interview with Florencia Moncérat Galvan (Nunez), known by many as Flo Galvan, and by others as Moncé. As a local of the Long Beach Peninsula, Moncé tells us about her experience growing up as a person of Hispanic heritage in a small rural town. We'll hear stories from old times, like when she went mushroom picking with the gang in Ocean Park, and we'll get the inside scoop on some of her more difficult memories from the peninsula, like the conflict that eventually ran her out of town.

This podcast covers a lot of ground and the tone hovers somewhere in the middle between "discussions of popular TV shows" and "I found out I'm dying later". We do go down some dark roads like: suicide, bad relationships, deportations, broken families, and human sacrifice, but the heavier content is balanced out with topics like our bad tattoos, working in the medical cannabis trade, and whether or not it is nice to smoke a little crack. As always, we hit many wacky topics along the way and had plenty of laughs too. Jeff's daughter (3 year-old) Amelia even pops-in to give a simple run-down on the common practice of human sacrifice among the native cultures of Central America. It's a hoot!

Also...

I was shocked and delighted to hear some BIG NEWS that Moncé announced live on the show. (I would say more about that, but I don't want to spoil the surprise so I will talk about that on a future episode).

This recording was the first time I had seen Moncé for a decade and I didn't fully know who I would get. I had no idea how much she had gone through over those years and I was really impressed by the strong and vibrant human being that she has grown to be. I thoroughly enjoyed sitting down with her and hearing about her journey through life and I think you will enjoy it too.

I am thrilled to be back for Season 2 and I can't wait to share all of the wonderful things we have in store.

Thank you for listening.

Profile picture for Jeff Nesbitt

Jeff Nesbitt

Jeff Nesbitt is a man of many interests. He is infinitely curious, brutally honest, and genuinely loves people. Jeff grew up in a small coastal community in the Pacific Northwest and after college he moved back to his hometown to start a family. When the Covid-19 crisis hit in 2020, regular social engagement was not an option, and Jeff realized that the missing ingredient in his life was human connection. So, like the fabled Noah and his Ark, Jeff started building a podcast studio without knowing what his show would actually be. Before the paint was even dry, Jeff start recording interviews with interesting friends, and Ramble by the River was born.
